Fitness for Work Assessments
Fitness for work assessments provide information to employers about the impact of health issues on an existing employee’s capacity to work where there are concerns about their health or fitness to work or it is suspected that a work performance problem relates to a health issue. The assessment involves a comprehensive medical consultation and examination focussed on the specific requirement of the employee’s job and can include liaison with the employee’s treating doctors, subject to the worker’s consent. Where indicated, additional in-house tests can be undertaken including drug and alcohol screens, audiometric testing or lung function testing.
Where there is no requirement for detailed health information by the employer, a brief format ‘Fitness to Work Certificate’ can be provided in place of a detailed report.
Both our doctors undertake Fitness for Work Assessments.
Assessment reports include advice about whether the employee can safely and effectively perform their job, any modifications or restrictions that should apply in employment, any action that the employer can take to reduce risks and any recommended health action by the employee themselves.
