Fitness for Work Assessments
Fitness for work assessments provide information to employers about the impact of health issues on an existing employee’s capacity to work where there are concerns about their health or fitness to work or it is suspected that a work performance problem relates to a health issue. The assessment involves a comprehensive medical consultation and examination focussed on the specific requirement of the employee’s job and can include liaison with the employee’s treating doctors, subject to the worker’s consent.
Assessment reports include advice about whether the employee can safely and effectively perform their job, any modifications or restrictions that should apply in employment, any action that the employer can take to reduce risks and any recommended health action by the employee themselves.
