Worker Assist and WorkSafe Tasmania have organised a seminar to explore the concept of a ‘second injury scheme’ for Tasmania as part of WorkSafe Month.
The concept is that there is a need for incentives to employers take on workers who cannot return to their previous job because of their injury. This is due to the perceived risk of further injury and associated legal liability.
A panel of experts consisting of WRCT Commissioner, Mr Steve Carey, GIO Injury Management Adviser, Mr Phil Dening, Rehabilitation Provider, Ms Jennie Cox, Medical Member on the WorkCover Board, Dr Rob Walters, Mr Michael Bailey from TCCI and Mr Steve Walsh from Unions Tasmania, will be involved.
