Who are we?
This is a specialist medical practice offering the expertise of doctors with post-graduate occupational medicine qualifications to the standard set by the Australasian Faculty of Occupational & Environmental Medicine (AFOEM) within the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP). This qualification is recognised by the Australian government regulator – the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Dr Sharman holds a Fellowship in Occupational & Environmental Medicine (FAFOEM).
As a Hobart-based practice, our focus is on service provision in Southern and Western Tasmania.
Our aims
We aim is to provide the highest professional standard of advice and care relevant to prevention, treatment and rehabilitation for people with work-related injury or ill-health and provide advice about the interplay between health issues and work. We focus on prevention wherever possible and aim to contribute to prevention of ill-health and injury through system change, as well as action at an individual level. Where there is an opportunity our doctors will contribute to legislative change relevant to workplace health and safety.
As medical practitioners our prime responsibility is to the health and well-being of workers and a safe and healthy work environment. We believe significant benefits ensue for individuals, the businesses that employ them and for the community as a whole from the pursuit of optimum worker health.
Our focus is on the provision of evidence-based advice to employees and employers and organisations that have an interest in workplace health, safety and well-being without “fear or favour”. Health is our primary concern with precedence over the legal or financial interests of any party.
